As a young student, a very disciplined theologian reminded me how essential it is to give as much attention to what is said across the pulpit as it is that it resonates with the spirit within. We can easily overlook Biblical accuracy because of the flash of a preacher's charisma.

We cannot take for granted that what is preached is His gospel. Otherwise, we would not have been warned to be careful not to be deceived by a "different gospel".

I'm grateful to mentors who reminded me how we must be attentive to the Word we hear. It helps to keep us from being led astray in a time when there are so many voices of influence.
