Scripture Readings

John 19:30 – “It is finished.”
Reflection
Seven candles now burn, and the menorah glows with fullness. On this seventh night of Hanukkah, we enter the sacred rhythm of completion. The Hebrew letter Shin (ש) is associated with peace, fire, and divine presence. It marks the sealing of God’s name and the rest that follows victory.
In the Hebrew year 5786, this seventh night reminds us that rest is not passive, it is prophetic. It declares that the battle is won, the temple is cleansed, and the light is sustained. We rest not because we are tired, but because God has finished the work.
Shin also appears on the mezuzah and the tefillin, marking the dwelling place of God. On this night, we remember that our homes, our hearts, and our worship are sealed by His Spirit.
Prayer
“God of completion, as we light the seventh candle of Hanukkah, we rest in Your finished work. In this year 5786, seal our hearts with Your peace. Let Your fire burn within us, not to strive, but to shine. May our homes be marked by Your presence, and our lives reflect Your rest. Amen.”
